Bear River Photo Greetings and Rio Oso Designs is the work of a stay-at-home, work-at-home mom: Angie. Angie first started working from home in 2004, shortly after she got married and moved from New Mexico to California. She began homeschooling her son, who is a special needs child. Living in a fairly expensive part of California, and NOT being rich, Angie decided to try her hand at online selling, and started her own website. She began with selling jewelry that she made, and soon after that, started selling children's boutique clothing. Soon, she added handmade greeting cards.
In 2006, Angie found out about a great site for makers and sellers of all handmade: Etsy.com. She opened up shop (www.ambrosiadelights.etsy.com), and then forgot about it until six months later when she made her first sale...two pairs of earrings! At that time, she figured, there must be something to this whole Etsy thing, so she decided to list a few more items, and look into promoting her shop a little more. (Now, this shop is a destash shop, so that Angie can destash, and get rid of crafting and sewing items that she is no longer using.)
During this time, Angie had been playing around with her photo editing software, and realized that she could do much more than edit her photos. So she began creating shop banners for other Etsians. Those took off like wildfire, so in May of 2007, Angie opened up a second Etsy shop (www.rioosodesigns.etsy.com). Angie has had over 600 sales in her second shop, and believes that she has some of the best customers ever...some of whom she keeps in touch with online, on a fairly regular basis.
Angie doesn't have a background in art, but has been "crafting" since she was a little girl. She has a creative mind, that is always thinking of new things to create. She loves what she does, and believes that it shows in her work. While Angie "creates" the layouts for the photo greeting cards, she is not the graphic artist behind the amazing graphics that she uses. Most of her graphics come from various digital scrapbooking artists, including Mindy Terasawa, Katie Pertiet, Anna Aspnes, Patti Knox, Lynn Grieveson, Michelle Martin, Rob and Bob Studios, Heidi Larsen, Leora Sanford, and more. Commercial licensing has been obtained in order to be able to use these graphics.
In her "spare" time, Angie keeps up a blog which showcases handmade products from all over the world: The Downtown Boutique. She also has 3 other blogs that she keeps up on a regular basis: a "mommy blog", a "family and friends" blog, and a "weight loss club" blog.
When she's not online, Angie loves to spend time with her husband and two boys. She and her husband currently have a 15 year old son (with special needs), and a two year old son (with special needs). They have just finalized the adoption of the 2 year old son through the California foster care system, and have hopes of adopting at least two more children in the future.
Angie also enjoys cooking, singing, reading (especially Dee Henderson!), digi-scrapping, fishing, camping, playing board games, spending time with friends and family, going to Monterey with her hubby for a romantic weekend, and worshipping with fellow believers at their church, Wellspring.
